Pre-Camp Outing

Just an fyi: The Wakarusa Valley Young Women are having a pre-camp out on April 25-26 at a member's farm. Should be good to get out in nature, but it will give us a chance to brush up on the camping skills. We are planning on training in safety and first aid. I had the impression that the first aid skills would not be thoroughly taught at camp, is that correct?

Will we need to use cook stoves for meals at camp, or can we do ground fires at this site?

First Aid needs to be taught and certified in your units before coming to camp. The specific level requirements may be touched on briefly during camp, but only as a review or part of a game or relay.

For meal prep you may use a camp stove as well as ground fires. There are metal fire rings available in the campsite for that purpose.
You will need to bring in firewood to supplement the downfalls from last winter. The girls can collect small branches from the ground for tinder and kindling.
