Directions?

I'm newer to this stake and have never been to the camp ground at Clinton Lake. Can someone give me detailed instructions on how to get there? I need them for myself and the others who will be coming up during the week. Thanks so much! Allyson

Itinerary?

Dianna,
We are having a food planning meeting on Saturday and I was wondering if you had a itinerary for us so we know what days we need a sack lunch, what days we need a sack breakfast and things like that. Also how many stake leaders do we need to plan on feeding for every meal. If you will please let me know so that we can have a better planning meeting that would be great.

Thanks, Breanna Murray

Lost my notes

I can not find my notes from the last meeting. I have looked everywhere! So, I need some reminders. I will be planning food this week with my girls and just need to make sure what day the certification meal is etc. Also, have we decided anything about secret sisters? And what time do the YCL's need to be up on Mon.? I'm sure I will have more questions later too. Thanks

YCL Meeting

There will be a brief YCL meeting directly after Youth Conference on Saturday, June 7th at 3 PM.  We'd like to have all the YCLs there, so please spread the word to your girls.  Thank you!

What time do we need to meet at camp Tuesday?

Hi,

I'm working on arranging transportation for the YW for camp but a few parents are wondering about the times we are to meet at camp on Tuesday and when we will be leaving Saturday (to know if they'll be able to swing it). Please let me know.

next meeting

Diana-

Was just wondering if you had a date yet for our next camp meeting. My hours will be picking up at work when my kids get out of school. I need a week and a half notice if we are meeting and the time.

Secret Sisters

This is a suggestion from Allison Taylor. I thought I would post it and let you guys think about it.

First, I had mentioned the secret SERVICE sister idea. Just to jot
>> > >your mind. This would be for secret sisters except for focusing on
>> > >providing service (and getting to know each other), rather than
>> > >material gifts. Each YW & LEADER would be given a small ring pad of
>> > >paper. Small enough to fit inside your pocket that way they always
>> > >have it. They would also be given a small pen or pencil to write.
>> > >Inside each pad of paper will already be a name written inside (I
>> > >would most likely distribute them by certification level so that they
>> > >can get to know each other better there.) As the week goes on the YW
>> > >are to be asking each other questions about each other to get to know
>> > >things about them and to also write down positive things about them
>> > >that the person observes. The secret sister can do small acts of
>> > >kindness during the week. (ie: save her a place to sit, go with her
>> > >to the bathroom, get her a drink, pay her a sincere complement, let
>> > >her borrow her flashlight, etc...). Toward the end of the week (or
>> > >whenever we choose to do it). We sit around as a certification level
>> > >and write a special note to the person that they have had all week and
>> > >read the lists from our paper of things we've learned about them. The
>> > >girls in my last ward really got into it and it turned out great. The
>> > >YW were always seen with their little pads of paper taking quick notes
>> > >and the leaders also did this and so it lead the way for them. I
>> > >still have mine that a YW did for me and it's so fun to read later

Let me know what you think.

Pre-Camp Outing

Just an fyi: The Wakarusa Valley Young Women are having a pre-camp out on April 25-26 at a member's farm. Should be good to get out in nature, but it will give us a chance to brush up on the camping skills. We are planning on training in safety and first aid. I had the impression that the first aid skills would not be thoroughly taught at camp, is that correct?

Will we need to use cook stoves for meals at camp, or can we do ground fires at this site?

Do we have a count of girls yet?

I was wondering if we have an approximate number count of girls in each certification level yet? If not, when do you want a number count from the wards?
Sis. Hoyos and I went to Bloomington West a couple of weeks ago to walk around and get our bearings. It's amazing how differently you look at things when it's your responsibility instead of when you are just attending. The following is an idea we came up with.

The first area encircled by road will be known as "Kitchen Central". This is the area where in the past all stake gatherings at camp have been held (it had been known as "camp central"). There is plenty of room to set up 7 kitchen areas. There is also water access here. The kitchens will be set up around the perimeter of the area. In the middle there will be room to have enough picnic tables to seat everyone. So, we will be cooking and eating as wards, but yet we will all be eating together, too. There would also include be 1 picnic table per kitchen to be used as needed for food preparation. Let us know if you feel you might need more.

Stake gatherings would take place in the middle large area. This is the area where Kaw Valley and Burlington camped last year. Then we will sleep in certification levels in the area where Lake Shawnee, Sherwood and the Lawrence wards camped last year.

This is way different than has been done before. We feel that this might help keep the racoons out of the area where the girls are sleeping because the food will not be there alongside them. We want to really stress that the girls have NO FOOD in their tents. Certification leaders will have a cooler for the girls treats. We will also assign the priesthood brethren to keep the racoons out of kitchen central as they are up all night patrolling anyway.

I just wanted to give you this to think about. Feel free to bring comments to the meeting on the 26th. Or you may post comments here. Or you may call me at 379-5195. Please make sure that when you post comments that you identify yourself.

Stake meetings

Hello,

We will be having a camp director's meeting on Saturday, April 26th at 5:00pm at the Stake Center. This is in conjunction with stake auxilliary meetings that day. We will be meeting with the young women presidencies at 4:00. There will be dinner provided after our 5:00 meeting. Actually we will probably meet and eat like we did last time. Please plan to come to this meeting, if you can.

I have invited you to this blog as a way to try to make communications among us easier. Questions can be asked and answers posted so that everyone can see what is going on. Please visit this blog often and let me know what you think. Also, you have been invited as an author to this blog. Only authors are able to post things.

I am hoping this works. I am hoping to learn lots from you ladies. You are an incredible group of women. Girls camp is going to be fun!!!!!!!!!
